A person must want to use the service and it must be beneficial to them
It is for people who have been identified as having a level of vulnerability or exceptional circumstances.
These may include:
- Alcohol addiction

Chaotic lifestyles and those NFA including rough sleepers

Domestic Violence
-
Ethnic Minorities
-
Families with identified needs
-
Homeless and potentially homeless
-
Learning disability support needs
-
Mental health support needs
-
Offenders/Ex-offenders
-
Older people over 60 years with mental health/support needs

Physical or sensory impairment
-
Refugees/Asylum Seekers
-
Substance abuser
-
Teenage parents
-
Travellers
-
Young people aged 16-25 years
-
Young people leaving care

This list is not exhaustive and not eveyone within these groups will have a support need.
The service may be able to help you with:
- Claiming benefits
- Budgeting and debt advice
- Form filling
- Personal safety and security advice
- Contacting other agencies
- Accompanying to appointments
- Accessing support groups

The service cannot help you with:
- Personal care
- Childcare
- Counselling
- Befriending
- Transport
|
Is everyone accepted for support?
We would refuse someone if:
- There are insufficient "housing related" support needs

They do not want to engage with the service

The safety of the Tenancy Support Champion is compromised or at risk

The service User's needs are beyond the scope of the service

There are no needs to address

Another agency can provide a more appropriate support service, e.g Rethink for a tenant with mental health problems

If someone is refused, the Tenancy Support Champion will contact the referring officer and tell them the reason(s) for refusal and we will also write to the service user with the reasons, a review of this decision will also be offered.
If a service user is not accepted onto the system the Tenancy Support Champion will endevour to give the service user information to signpost them to another agency e.g Social Servces, Citizen's Advice Bureau.
If you are having difficulties using the Choice Move system, please contact the Choice Move Team on 01246 217650 who will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding this service. In addition, the choice move team can offer support and assistance regarding the bidding process:

Auto Bid Service - this service is operated by the Choice Move Team and will place bids automatically on properties which are suitable for your needs. This removes the requirement of you having to bid manually. This service is for vulnerable applicants and an assessment will be undertaken by the Choice Move team. This will help identify if any further support or assistance can be offered

Newsletter - if you are unable to access the Choice Move service due to a disability, the Choice Move Team can post the property newsletter on a weekly basis to you.
