How to Bid

By contacting an Area Office or One Stop Shop.
By using our PC in the Reception area of Council House, Saltergate, Chesterfield. Our staff will be happy to show you how to do this.

To apply for a home you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it. You may only apply for a home that is suitable for your family size and any medical requirements, for example if you have been given a priority for a level access shower.

In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller home than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding, in some areas you may also apply for a property that is bigger than your need, this will largely depend on the area the property is in.

Homes available to rent are advertised from midnight on a Tuesday to midnight the following Tuesday.

You will be able to bid for a maximum of 3 homes during the time they are advertised. Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Tuesday. The only execption is vulnerable applicants, placed on the autobid system, where the system places bids automatically.

You will only be able to bid for a home that is suitable for your family size and medical need.
